Hello everybody! Thanks for checking out my site!

I grew up in the small town of Geneva in Upstate New York and started playing drums in the school band when I was 10 years old. A couple of years later I got the rock n’ roll bug and my first drumkit. By the time I was 14, I was gigging at local all ages clubs, youth centers and festivals.

Throughout high school my band and I recorded demos and played the Upstate NY circuit of rock clubs, school functions, and anywhere else that would have us. We were way underage but it gave us unique access to see what it really was like for professional adult musicians.

In High School I took classical percussion lessons at Eastman School Of Music, private drumkit lessons, performed in my High School’s Jazz Band, All-County Orchestra and went to every drum clinic and rock n’ roll show I could get to.

My parents couldn’t have been more supportive of my love for music. They let us rehearse in the basement, drove me and my friends to concerts and even let me play what I liked in the car. Totally cool!

Next was college. I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts in 1999. Hampshire allowed me to design my own curriculum which focused on Jazz Performance and Ethnomusicology. While at Hampshire I was exposed to an incredible amount of diverse music. I studied topics such as Indonesian Gamelan, Indian classical music, western music theory, Jazz history and theory, and Jazz improvisation. I was behind the drumkit every day for hours playing all kinds of styles from experimental metal, to Indian music, to jazz, to funk. During this time I studied under Ethnomusicologiest Jayendran Pillay, Jazz legend Yusef Lateef, Jazz Pianist Andee Jaffe, among many others.

During my last year at Hampshire I spent four months in Bangalore, India studying Mridangam (South Indian classical drum) under Sri Vasudeva Rao. This lead to my senior recital entitled “Talas and Time Signatures: An Exploration Of Indian and Western Musical Traditions.”

Throughout this time I was also playing covers in the Upstate New York circuit several nights a week while on breaks.

I moved to Nashville in 1999 with my good friends Shaun and Dan Smith playing in the band Second Generation of Blue. We played the Nashville rock circuit until Shaun got the opportunity to play with a national country artist. While understanding his departure I was left without a band and working a day job at The Nashville Public Library.

In 2005 I married my super cool wife Caren and without a plan quit the library to drum full time.  I nabbed an audition for Hillbilly Casino and got the gig. During my 7 years in the band we averaged 150 shows a year, released 4 full length records (all engineered by HBC bassist Geoff Firebaugh and myself, all mixed by Geoff), went to Europe five times, toured all over America and played shows with some of our favorite bands/artists. We also established house gigs in Nashville at Opryland Hotel and Layla’s Bluegrass Inn on Lower Broadway and in Memphis at Blues City Cafe on Beale Street.  I left the band in early 2012 to pursue a career as a freelance drummer.  My friend Matt Arnn is now behind the drumkit and the band continues to rock harder than ever!

During this time I also had the honor of playing with some of my heroes! In 2009 I was fortunate enough to back up Brian Setzer for a couple gigs as part of his Nashvillains band along with Ronnie Crutcher (HBC guitarist). In 2011 Geoff and I had the honor of backing Dale Watson on The Grand Old Opry.

After playing some shows with Curb recording artist Andy Gibson in June 2012 I spend the next 3 and a 1/2 years behind the kit touring with country artist Jason Michael Carroll.  JMC’s had a bunch of hits (Alyssa Lies, Livin’ Our Love Song, Where I’m From, Sleep When I’m Dead) that we played live.  While in the band we toured all over the US as well as having the honor to perform for our troops overseas through Navy Entertainment. On these tours we performed in the Middle East, Africa, Italy, Japan and Guam. We even performed on the aircraft carrier The U.S.S. George H.W. Bush while it was sailing in the Arabian Sea.

As well as playing live, I also performed drums on JMC’s newest record “What Color Is Your Sky”. The album included the single “God Only Knows” which climbed to #28 on Music Row’s Breakout Chart.

I spent 2016 playing shows with Richie Scholl, did a tour with Continental (featuring Rick Barton, co-founder of Dropkick Murphys) and am now on the road with country singer Rick Monroe.

Since 2005 I’ve also been building my studio which has given me complete creative freedom.  This has allowed me to make demos and full length records with some of my favorite bands and musicians.
